Another question about heading over to Jost

Post by phyl »

Ive been debating over whether we take the ferry over. I was just reading about the Dolphin Shuttle. Is it worth the extra $$ to have a little extra time there? We are mainly looking at heading to the Soggy Dollar and Foxys. Does anyone know where it drops off/picks up? Thanks for the help! 8)

You have to go thru Customs on either Jost or Tortola before enjoying Foxy's and/or Soggy Dollar.

We went over to Jost on the ferry from STJ....dropped us off at Customs on Jost. We took a taxi to Soggy's, then walked over to Ivan's, taxied to Foxy's for lunch then walked back to the ferry pick-up point (at Customs).....all very easy.

So much more expensive than the ferry.

The ferry is $60pp round trip including Customs and if I am reading their website correctly it is $280 for 4 people each way so $560.00 round trip (they have a minimum charge of $280) plus $35pp for Customs so it would be a total of $700.00 round trip vs $240 on the ferry for 4 people. For $700 I would hire a private charter such as Capt John Brandi for the day (cheaper) and have the whole day on the water including a stop/afternoon on Jost.

The guy from the Dolphin Water Taxi quoted me $110 round trip plus $35 for customs. I thought maybe the higher price may be worth the extra time you get on Jost but everyone seems to agree the ferry is a great choice. Im all about saving a couple extra bucks if I can but I didnt want to skimp if we would be missing out on something. So, the ferry it is. Thanks Pia (and everyone else). This forum is awesome for planning all the little extras for the trip!! :D
