Today's rainy morning on STJ turned into a sunny day with clear (no more haze) sky. Cisterns filled and the locals are happy. Sunny skies and visitors happy. Win Win. It's a good thing.

"Cisterns filled" - we measured this morning - 2" added loooong way to go (it is 88" deep) :( but we are happy :)

Pia, how big is your cistern ? and how much water do you have?

We hold just under 8,000 gallons when full at 88" and right now we are down to 22" and we average 2" per week usage, except for the time last year when we had friends stay and our weekly usage even after the "please conserve water - take short showers etc" speach was 11" :shock: (so together they used 9" - a little over our normal monthly total for the two of us in a week) - it was not their first stay with us but maybe they had forgotten to conserve last trip :( so I think we will have to have a little talk before their next stay.

can completely relate--I grew up spending summers in a place where we relied on rainwater exclusively for everything but drinking water--although some find this a bit icky, w never flushed for number 1--since you never knew when the rain would come!--our tanks were overhead wooden types (they are now fiberglass) but i think their capacity is quite a bit smaller than your cistern--wishing you good rains --but only at night!!
