Mr. and Mrs. Golfer's TR 4/19 - 4/26

Post by lsugolfer »

Wow! We were both so glad that we decided to Honeymoon on STJ and I feel like sharing our trip (well some of it!) with everyone. I'm going to try and do this with a 2-3 sentence minimum and 1 photo a day...let's see how this works out:

Day 1 4/19:
LONG day of flying from New Orleans through Atlanta. Arrived at STT, rented the Wrangler from Budget and was the last car to load onto the 4:30p ferry. Met our villa agent at the dock and headed up to Mill Ridge after a stop for some provisions followed by an EXCELLENT dinner at Shipwreck Landing!

Day 2 4/20

Slept in and cooked breakfast. Midday at Francis, lunch back at the villa and a late afternoon/sunset at Waterlemon. In fact we were the only ones at Waterlemon from about 4:30 until 6pm... incredibly peaceful.

Day 3 4/21

We're adjusting to the sun coming up WELL before 6am in Coral Bay. Picked up snorkel gear from Crabby's and headed to Trunk. Lunch at the restaurant on Bourdeaux Mtn and then the afternoon at Maho where this guy was hanging out.

Day 4 4/22

All day charter on Ocean Runner with our captain Jason. Great guy and had some awesome stories for someone our age. Snorkeled the caves, drinks at Willy T's, a swim/hike on Sandy Cay and then finished off the day with pain killers at the Soggy Dollar. Did some trolling on the way back to the dock in US waters, but nothing bit.

Day 5 4/23

Couples massage at Drift Away was an excellent way to split up the week! Lunch at Skinny Legs and then an afternoon hike up Ram's Head where we found...

Some other highlights from the day:

WHO DAT! (on the post in Skinny Legs):

Anyone know how long this has been there? Its on the cobblestone beach on the Ram's Head Trail...Image

Day 6 4/24

Morning back at Francis because we loved it so much, snorkled there for a bit then went over to Cinnamon and then to Hawksnest for a few minutes. Mass at Our Lady of Mt. Carmel at 6pm then dinner at Waterfront Bistro following.

Day 7 4/25

Morning snorkels at Great and Little Lameshur where we saw a few sea turtles but they swam away before we could get a photo. Probably the best snorkeling of the trip. Wish we would have found this place earlier! That afternoon we went exploring down the east end and meandered through the undeveloped neighborhood...the views from there are incredible. That night we headed back to Cruz bay for dinner and drinks at the Beach Bar. Knew nothing of the forum get together, but definitely saw ya'll there!

Trunk fish from Little Lameshur...

Day 7 4/26
Sad to leave but already planning our trip back! Our flight from STT was delayed about 4 hrs...we think it was the island's way of telling us just to stay!

Yup, you're hooked alright. Glad you had a wonderful honeymoon. We sent our daughter and son-in-law to STJ for their honeymoon 14 years ago and they've been back nearly every year since then.

We stayed at Mill Ridge in Coral Bay. Booked it on VRBO.com

Hilarie was great to work with. Here's another shot of the massive porch and pool area.

Congrats on the wedding, honeymoon and on discovering St John :) Hilarie is great - we were neighbors and didn't know it as her house is just above ours :)

We didn't really plan it either, but by the time we made it to Waterlemon it was around 3:30 so we figured why not. That photo isn't actually from the beach, but its from the 3 Jeep parking "lot" where we were parked on the Liestner Bay Trail/road.

If you say at Waterlemon until sunset...bring your flashlight! I tripped a few times on that trail sober and during the day...

I can't think of a more romantic island to spend a honeymoon. I recommend it all the time to friends who's kids are getting married.

It really is just that perfect.

Enjoy your new life together with a great beginning.
