Cyril King Airport is now Santa Rosa?

Post by Nancy_B »

Did anyone else get calls/emails from USAirways yesterday notifying them of a schedule change? STT was not listed as Santa Rosa.

Does anyone know the story behind this?

PS My ticker is looking fabulous :)

I got a call yesterday from Usair too telling me of a schedule change for a flight from PHL-Charlotte then Charlotte to Santa Rosa. They said the flight was for May 1st I think.
Funny thing is, they must have called the wrong person because I dont have a trip planned to St. Thomas (or wherever Santa Rosa is). The message called me my maiden name as well..strange!

Wish I was going to St. John in 2 weeks though!

Other than Southern California, the only Santa Rosa airport I can find is in Brazil.
How many more days?

I just did a "test" ticket purchase on the American Airlines and USAirways sites and STT is still showing as Cyril E. King on both.

*is jealous of Nancy_B's ticker*

Here is a link to a forum posting from a while ago but it discusses that Cyril King used to be Harry Truman Airport.

Yes, but even in his wild youth Harry Truman was never called Santa Rosa --- at least not to his face.

I wonder if calling it the Truman airport kept Japanese travelers away. I seriously wonder that.

The name change had nothing to do with tourists--everything in the territory that wasn't named after a Virgin Islander got renamed in 1970-1990, and anything namable is ALWAYS named after a person.

I'm aware of the name changing dates actually, I was just juxtaposing a curiosity of how the Truman name went over. Not whether or not it became a reason for namechanging.
