Day 4: Maaaaaaaaahhhhhhhhhhhho, Skinny's, Hi Ruth & Lime
Day 4: Maaaaaaaaahhhhhhhhhhhho, Skinny's, Hi Ruth & Lime
Day 4: Maaaaaaaaahhhhhhhhhhhho, Skinny's, Hi Ruth & Lime Inn Key Lime Pie!
Another gorgeous Coral Bay morning, did I mention it never gets old?

Started the morning again with the breakfast of champions, bagel and coffee on the deck. While LMG was working out the pups, I packed the cooler and pulled stuff together for the beach.
We decided on Maho for ease and pure beauty. Maho also never gets old.

Another picture perfect, Simpsons cartoon sky kind of day

Today's report is heavy on pictures, light on words, because I was doing my best to hold down the chair.

And enjoy the day and a beverage....

Eventually and reluctantly our tummies started growling and we decided it was time for the first trip to Skinny Legs of the trip. This, for the record, was also the first time I'd ever used the bathroom at Skinny's. After all the complaints I'd heard about how awful they were I was majorly underwhelmed by the "awfulness". Perhaps it was a good day, but they were completely adequate for what you need to do in there.
We ordered lunch (Two blueburgers and a swiss burger for my mama) and two Coconut Swizzles and one orange dream something or other for my mama. Yes, LMG and I ordered the EXACT same lunch. Again.
While we waited for lunch I browsed the stores at the Wall Street Complex, picking off goodies for the kiddos, my hubby and yes, one or two things for myself.

I know the whole Skinny's burger controversy remains. Some just don't think its all that. Well, I still attest it is a DAMN FINE BURGER. I am not a huge burger person, but I crave these. It wouldn't be a trip to STJ for me without one, or two, or 7. Sort of like the painkillers on Jost.
Post-lunch we rolled back to the house to check on the pups and relax a little. Shortly thereafter we decided to head to Cruz Bay to say hello to Ruth and to hit Starfish and, ok, I'll be honest, the real reason was because LMG said, "let's go get a slice of key lime pie at the Lime Inn!" SOLD. IN. 110%.
Ruth was in! Yay. She was WAY busy but made time to chat a little bit as we walked through the store doing our damage.
Cruz Bay Grill Rub. Check.
Kiss of the Jumbie Coffee. Check.
St. John Sweatshirt. Check.
Caramel Chocolate Goodness. Check.
Cute STJ T-shirt for the boy. Check.
Ahhhh, if you shop no where else on St. John, hit St. John Spice. They should charge a dollar just to come in and smell the store. It is a blend of wonderfulness that smells like warmth and sunshine to me. Mmmmmmm.mmmmmm.good! And take two runs around the store, I always miss something the first time through!
Post- shopping excursion and chatting with Ruth we figured it was time for the Lime Inn to open and we headed over to get our Key Lime Pie on.

LMG and I agree (I KNOW RIGHT AGAIN UNBELIEVEABLE) it is the best. Super cold and super tart. So delicious. Its worth the $7.95! Or was it $8.95?!??! Of course, the girls who wouldn't spend $8 on a 1/2 gallon of ice cream didn't hesitate to buy a $8 slice of pie! We have our priorities straight! Yes, it is really that expensive! Worth it.
Full of yummy pie, we headed on to Starfish and then were back over the river and through the woods to Coral Bay again.
We caught a beautiful sunset from the Marketplace Complex.

The more trips I take the more I realize I love Coral Bay.
We were all so stuffed from Skinny's and pie, that we had chips and salsa for dinner. Don't judge.
The rest of the evening was spent hanging with the pups on the deck, chatting, and watching the day slip into night. Absolutely Perfection!
Tomorrow: Vie's Beach and more....

I have had the mahi and it is good and I like the grilled chix sandwich too. This time though I was just in a burger mood, a blue burger specifically. It was delicious, esp washed down with a coconut swizzle!liamsaunt wrote:Very nice!
I like Skinny's mahi sandwiches, and John loves their burgers too. I think you just have to be in the mood for it.
We just had the best Greek food at Yanni's today in Greenwood Village in Denver, CO with my two girls and hubby...but even though it was great Greek and the owners are tremendous...your burger sounds amazing! Plus it's not green here yet, as my CA daughter pointed out!
Love your trip reports Flip...what an amazing trip that must of been! You're a great trip report writer..2nd to VickiH.

Seriously, Ruth you need to do a St John Spice scented candle. Walking into your store is intoxicating.flip-flop wrote:Ahhhh, if you shop no where else on St. John, hit St. John Spice. I can hook you up with a company that does custom scents. They did a scent for my aunt based upon the smell of the tiny farming village where she grew up (corn, wheat, cut hay, fresh cut grass, etc.)
They are in a bag in the candy section. They are just that. Chocolate caramels. OMG. Especially good when you forget they are in your bag and they melt a little and then you discover them while waiting for the ferry in the heat. Mmmmmmmmm....messy but yum.mbw1024 wrote:I do not know what this is .. please advise!Caramel Chocolate Goodness
See this is why you need to take at least 2 passes through the store!
I love writing the reports so I guess that's the only explanation. They are sort of random play by plays with lots of details most normal people could care less about knowing. I do not have the gift of brevity.Terry wrote:
