Hook Toe Ring?

Post by Chickadee »

On what might have been our first trip to STJ years ago I got a wrap style toe ring from Jolly Dog that I wore every day since. It has now broken and I am very sad without it...

Does anyone know if a Caribbean or St. John Hook toe ring is available any where? I think it would make a nice replacement for my other one.

Thanks!
Jennifer

I go with the petroglyph ones from Freebird. Since I've lost three or four they're much cheaper than I imagine a fancy hook one would be to replace.

Way back when, before we sold Freebird, I actually tried to fit someone with one of the hook rings for their toe. It ended up not being comfortable for the person. A little too bulky of a design to be worn in closed toe shoes. I would check with Freebird and see what they have. They may be able to suggest something. www.freebirdcreations.com

I've been wearing my toe rings that I bought at R&I Patton's about 17 years ago. They are not the type that bend around your toe but are actually rings that you slide onto your toe. They are very thin. I wear one gold one on my right foot and three (one gold and a silver one on each side of it) on my left foot. I don't even know I have them on and I get lots of compliments on them. I never take them off.

Not sure about a toe ring, but Jolly Dog at Skinny's does have hook (finger) rings...of which I have one on my left hand! :D

Diana - Do you wear your toe rings when you swim? I wanted to buy one when I was on STJ last time but I never take my toe rings off in the summer and am afraid I will lose it.
Thanks

I never take my toe rings off. In fact I've even had a couple of surgeries and I refused to take them off even then. It's a very tight fit to get over the first knuckle/top of the toe. Once over that part of the toe they aren't really tight at all. I wear them between the first and second knuckle of the toe and I really never even feel them at all on my foot, even when I'm wearing shoes.

When I bought them at Patton's they sprayed my toe with Windex to make the toe slippery enough to get the ring on. The clerk that I bought them from looked at my toes and knew immediately what size to fit me with. The year I got them I first bought the one gold one on my right foot. A few days later I went back and bought the three that I wear on the left foot.

I love my toe rings and my pedicurist loved them so much that I bought one for her a few years ago too.

I rarely take mine off either, wear them with any kind of shoes and while swimming and snorkeling with fins. The turtle one I have is adjustable (think pinch open and closed), but I adjusted it really snug and wrestle it over the end of my toe, then it sort of just floats comfortably. The one that broke was a wrap style and I think just more subject to flexing during normal activities and it finally just snapped in two. That said, I think some people have toes that are straighter than mine (mine are kind of wider at the tip than base) and they might have trouble with rings coming off.
