That stinks, I am glad it wasn't a worse outcome though.
We have been there several times in those conditions. There is something also about the sand when it is packed, it is not nearly as loose as some of the East coast beaches, where your feet will sink way in. So in addtion to the shorebreak-some extra bad hurt.
Old story, but actually had a friend get his rash guard shirt ripped off of him in one of those waves at Cinnamon.

this is a good thing to share with others, esp. us northeasterners who think nothing of bigger waves. But have read here before that STJ waves are a whole diff. breed. So will respect them well.
