Annapolis MD

Post by Jan&MikeVa »

Hi fellow travelers!
Need some help with Annapolis MD. Mike & I are headed up that way for a couple of nights this weekend. A fancy smancy benefit gala in Baltimore Saturday night, so thought we'd stay in Annapolis for a change. Actually we'll be on Kent Island, but planning Saturday in the City. Any thoughts??? Coming home via the ...Eastern Shore and the Chesapeake Bay Bridge Tunnel on Sunday.
Thanks in advance :)

If the weather is good, take a stroll on the campus of the Naval Academy. It's a beautiful campus and right on the edge of the water.
Man it's like some dream we live down here....

If the weather is decent, take the tourist boat ride up the river. Its my favorite thing to do (I'll use any excuse to get onto a boat). You go past the Naval Academy and get a wonderful view of it, then cruise past beautiful riverfront homes. We enjoy walking through some of the sidestreets and looking at the older buildings. If you like history and architecture, the state building is open for tourists sometimes. My hubby loves the Italian Gelato place that is close to the marina - lots of interesting flavors. I am not much of a shopper, but there are a few interesting shops with unique items.
Have fun!

Hi Jan!

Here is a link to Pussers, I hear they have a twin in the Islands. You might enjoy this.

Skip Pussers, food is really not good. Much better places. Looking for crabs, go out of downtown to Cantlers..kind of across from the naval academy. Otherwise our regular places are McGarveys which is by the docks..across the water ( yes, just walk it will be in the 50's)The Boatyard is a cute local place. The best seafood restaurant is O'Leary's which is by the Boatyard. Much more costly & reservations needed. I take people on a walk around the academy..the tour is good there also. Everyone needs a picture ID to get on, no cars. Parking is rough..there are a few garages. Bring change if you get a meter..you WILL get a ticket.I say start at the Academy, walk back into town, turn left..get a drink at McGarvey's.. walk the bridge & look at all the boats & head to the Boatyard for lunch/dinner.
If in Baltimore head to Harbor East & walk around...not the Inner Harbor. PM me if you need anymore info..heading out of town Sat AM...where are you staying?
