Gromit... Do you have a Cheeseburger In Paradise or Bahama Breeze Restaurant near you? While no where the same as STJ, the island atmosphere might help a little. Bahama Breeze also has an impressive run selection :)

Time to start working on convincing the wife that we have to go back soon!

Hey Grommit:

I sooooo feel your pain. My husband and I get one week a year with no kids, no dogs, just us & St. John. I have to admit that if he ever said he wanted to go some where else, we would be on seperate vacations. Lucky for me, he feels the exact same way I do.

While my year wait is almost up, I think it only gets worse. The last two weeks before I go I can't work, can't concentrate, and could care less about anything but finding all the necessities (beach stuff, new flip-flops, etc.). I am useless to the "real" world and might as well just pack up and go early. If I did that, I might as well not come back. See how that works? I guess the proper thing to do would be to just move there and get it over with:)

Wanna start house hunting with me?

I love Bahama Breeze unfortunately the closest to us that I know of is outside of Philly!

My husband just got home from STJ last night and brought home all his laundry-so I can pull the Rick G. trick. I was in a funk when he went down to meet with the prospective buyer of our boat. Hated to see it go but knew for his sake that it was time to part with it. I didn't even pray that it wouldn't be sold.
Well the buyer fizzled out on the deal. So for the time being I'm a happy woman. I'm hoping that no deal comes through until after Thanksgiving so we can race in the regatta. Hope he doesn't see this post!

Grommit,
Dec will be here before you know it. I planned my June trip in September and now it is only 2 months away! I have to admit that I have done a lot of the same things that you did to help with the "funk".
At least you have your hubby on board. Mine isn't obsessed with STJ and I only have the forum people to relate to as far as that goes.
That Google map thing is cool.
Also go to the Gallows Point Web cam at sunset time and sip a tropical drink while viewing the sunset.

I feel your funk :( , I think it is one of the reasons, I started the Ladies Fall Forum Getaway. The thought of waiting till next February to go with Hubby was too long. Next fall will be tough for me, I will be an empty-nester for the first time, with a hubby that travels about 2 weeks each month. He wants me to travel with him, but I do not want to waste my money or miles traveling anywhere except St John. So my solution was our girls getaway! I also have my husband mainly stay at Starwood Hotels when he travels and we got the Starwood American Express which gives you triple miles when you charge and stay/eat with Starwood. All this for free nights at the St John Westin! Since January I have 4 free nights saved, WooHoo :D Everytime I charge with Amex, I see visions of St John 8)

Mary Beth,

Christine, RickG's lover, delurking here(he's making me type that). The doughballs of death do still exist. They refer to them as "Ozzy" rolls. We can't go to Sweetwaters without the kids demanding them.

Oh, and by the way, I just caught a whiff of the aforementioned shirt. It smells heavenly.

Is he making you type the "RickG's lover" part or the Delurking part

Anyway, as to the Great American chain ... my hubby just says "bring us the dough balls of death, hold the other crap" Now I am hungry! Thanks a lot people. I am trying to get in SWIMSUIT shape. So what I am 33 and haven't been in swimsuit shape since oh ... 15 years and 2 kids ago!
