I will make a prediction on the Colts-Jets game.

Jets 17
Colts 13

Revis, Revis, Revis.

The man shuts down half the field, and he will shut down Reggie Wayne. Given that, and it is, the Colts are left with a passing attack led by the tight end (pretty damn good, but they controlled Gates yesterday), two rookie WR's, and a fair running game, not exactly drawn up to lead the team to victory.

And on the other side of the ball, Shonn Greene has been a revelation. He should get somewhere north of 20 carries, at least in my opinion. I know Thomas Jones is good, but Greene might be great, and yesterday's game really turned when Schottenheimer started giving the ball to him.

I am starting to become a believer in Sanchez. That pass he threw moving to his right to put them ahead was a thing of beauty. He makes just enough plays to help them move the ball on offense, and once in awhile, is capable of making the brilliant play.

I can't believe I am rooting for the Jets. Maybe, just maybe, their winning will light a fire under Belichick's arse.

Go Gang Green!

Green is showing that he can burdt through the gaping holes the offensine line creates. Jones is the vet who still has some game left. Jay Feely is very consistant. JETS are a very balanced team right now. Very interesting matchup with these two teams. Lots of history going back to, oh, lets see, 1969. These championship games are usually better than the Superbowl.
True, but Brady and Manning also threw pics this postseason. If that pic by Ed Reed stuck (the first one, when Garcon came back and forced the fumble), we might be talking about a different game today.

BTW, I think a Colts/Saints SB would be epic - if you like offense.

I don't know how San Diego can deal with Norv Turner. A pretty wide open offence got them there, and he goes to an ultra conservative plan in the playoffs again, handing off to a way past his prime Tomlinson, over and over again. Like I said before the game, he seems to coach "not to lose" rather then to win in big games. He did it last year and he did it with the Redskins years ago. He has been called a genius since he was Dallas' offensive coordinator with Aikmen, Smith and Irwin. The only thing was, even back then... the Cowboy's record when Emmitt Smith didn't play when Norv ran the offence was 0-5. Just saying. Somehow I don't think that the Colts are going to come in with a conservative game plan. I don't really care which team wins that one, but I'm wishing the Jets luck.

The Jets were lucky they got away with playing so much zone in the first half, but did what they had to do in the first half - hang around, keep the score close enough so they didn’t have to go away from their game plan where that running game eventually gains some traction and wears you down.

Great adjustment by Ryan at halftime to ditch the zone and go to those blitz packages with a single high safety and in your face man coverage in the second half. Likewise, if they can keep the Paytons at or under 2 scores in the first half they will have a shot.

For any of you who have spent your weekends watching your kids soccer games, this Jet game (and maybe the next game) may remind you of those games where your team starts playing a more talented offensive opponent and you go “oh oh”, but your defense steps up, you goalie makes some great saves, the other team even misses a penalty kick, and you score on a breakaway or corner kick and win the game with much fewer shots on goal. This kind of stuff happens in sports more often than you think, so who knows, maybe the Jets CAN go all the way.

One big key to Greene’s playoff performance is he has fresh legs. Besides Revis (who should have won D player of the year over Woodson), S Kerry Rhodes had great game too with eight tackles, a strip sack and recovered that onside kick. Not sure about that onside kick – you immediately set the Jets up for a 4 down series by giving them the ball there vs. giving yourself a shot at 3 and out further down the field.

Hope the Saints win – ESPN and John Madden has made me a Favre hater with their endless coverage and breathless proclamations about how great he is. And I don’t know how all you Packer fans put up with all those interceptions over the years.

How is this luck? If Rivers was such a good QB and had such superior receivers, he could have check off to another play more favorable to zone coverage. The JETS dictated their will on both defense and offence. The onside kick was a mistake in my opinion.
SJ just saying thats not their best defense and they were fortunate that the Bolts didnt get more points with the passing yardage Rivers did put up in the first half (and looked comfortable doing it). Sorta like a pitcher getting away with a big strikeout using his 2nd or 3rd best pitch.
Indeed, good for the Jets for bending and not breaking in the 1st half and then really switching it up in the 2nd half and making Rivers look real uncomfortable.

Yup the onside kick was a head scratcher.

What a great Super Bowl that would be!!! Old fart vs rookie. But that would mean the Saints wouldn't be there.

Go Saints
Go Jets

Yeah you have to really like the Saints winning by more than a field goal. The Dome will be NUTS. Reggie Bush looks like he has figured how to play with the all pro talent he has been blessed with and Favre will try to force a few too many passes where and when he shouldnt.

The Jets/Colts game might play out like their last game i.e. if the Jets are down by 2 scores or less at the half, they will win again by less than a touchdown. HOWEVER, Sanchez cant have more than 1 turnover, the Jets special teams need to make a play (or not allow any returns out past the 30), and the defense cant allow a short catch turn into long catch and run on those hot reads where Manning and his receivers figure out where the blitz is coming from, they adjust on the fly, and he gets rid of the ball in less than 3 seconds. A lot of things have to go right, but again you have a home team playing under big expectations while the visitors are playing with house money and thats always dangerous.
