If I had to guess, a spot light on the bow of a boat.

oh, you think? it seemed more like it was coming from land to me. but what do I know? and it's gone now. guess someone turned the lights out :)

I think it looks like headlights from a car on the road. They probably appear really bright as the car comes around the curve straight toward the camera or if they are parked pointed in that direction. Some of the villas we've rented face that point and you can really see the car headlights at night as they move along the road. It's always fascinating to watch.
