Extremely cheap lodging?

Post by deejayjay »

Hubby is having surgery next week. Off work for one week. Off all activity for 4 weeks. He is a very active person. (Bikes 5000+ miles per year. Gym at least 1 hr per day.) This in addition to a full time job, and our small farm with 4 horses and their care. He's going to get pretty cranky with no activity. So. . . I'm thinking, how strenuous could it be to float around, face down, in the ocean around STJ. ( of course I'd have to check with the surgeon first) As this is an extra, unplanned trip, during high season, does anyone know an extremely cheap place to stay end of Jan , first of Feb. Not cheap like 4000.00 instead of 7000.00. But cheap, as in not in the budget plans. I'm asking the impossible, I know. All the stairs at Maho would make Maho not work.

If you can get a car, Winter Moon is available Jan 30th - Feb 6th for $1330 per week. Peggy and Roy will take great care of you and their property and view are wonderful - you won't be sorry :)

Give them a call asap :)

There are some pretty good bargains on the east end of St. Thomas. Here is one in Sapphire Village:

Check vrbo for many more. While I prefer St. John, Red Hook has some fun places to eat and drink, Sapphire Beach is a pretty nice beach, and you are near the ferry dock.

Available Jan 8-19th: http://www.vrbo.com/211634
I've spoken to the owner, Trevor, and he seems like a really nice guy. And I believe he can arrange for a Jeep (his) as well!

Check out Sol Cottage on VRBO. There is a spiral staircase but also a sofabed downstairs. We just stayed there on an unbudgeted trip before Christmas so I know what you are talking about. It is very inexpensive (but nice and clean) and the owner, Marc Miller, is great to work with.

I also recommend minde's recommendation. When you figure in the price of a vehicle it doesn't get much better price wise. You may have trouble even getting a vechile at this point so it would be a good option. Good luck!
