Great Trip
Great Trip
We're back and not very happy about it! Heading out for the week on business and will post a report on the weekend. Just wanted to thank everybody for all your help in putting our trip together. We had a great time - the villa was amazing (Vistaero), the snorkeling was excellent (first time seeing rays) and the people are great. St. John is beautiful and we will return. Hi to the Forum gang I met at The Beach Bar. TR to follow!

Pegoode - Did they finish the repairs at Vistaero? We were there the first part of November and the hot tub was not working. We were told for 9 days that a part was on order. The flashing around the chimney needed replacing and water ran down the walls in the two bedrooms (upper and lower floor) on the back side of the fireplace. We ran out of LP in the middle of breakfast one day, which Destination St John resolved right away, but then the the microwave above the stove died. One of the guys in our group put a note on it saying that parts were on order as a joke. I think there were alot of deferred maintenence items because the place is listed for sale. The views were amazing though...that I do agree. The beds (at least the one in our room on the back side of the fireplace upstairs) were awful! My back was killing me so I slept in a chaise lounge on the deck one night which was wonderful with the stars and the tree frogs. The only problem was the red bug bites all over my face the next day!! Hahaha! Guess I won't do THAT again without one of those safari hats with mosquito netting. At least they didn't itch but I looked like I had measles or something. Add the angry red welt from my snorkle mask and I was quite a spectacle. LOL
Hi Lindy - it never rained more than a sprinkle one morning so we never noticed any leaks. The only complaint I heard about any of the beds was that one of the ones downstairs was loose but once the nuts were tightened it was fine. I don't know that we ever used the microwave but the parts came in for the hot tub and it was finally fixed while we were there. We had a full tank of propane and a back up. Good thing because we ate in for about half of our dinners and used the grill each time. I'll have a trip report (finally, I know!) in short order.
