You can always park at Slimman's for $10 - right across from Wharfside Village. There is another lot that opened right by La Tapa and the police station - also $10 (if its still open).casco wrote:So all the good restaurant tips for Cruz bay has me thinking of the parking issues I read so much about. I rented a jeep on STT so can not use any of the rental companies' lots in Cruz Bay. Do the Cruz Bay restaurants provide parking or am I stuck paying to park in a general parking lot?
What we do when we are going to town for the evening is spend about 5 minutes doing a lap around (make sure to include the National Park Dock). If we can't find a spot, we put it in a lot. I'm from NYC and LOVE finding great parking spots, but I'm not going to stress about it when I'm on holiday. For me, the $10 is well worth it.

We've been to STJ 8 times and always gone in the off-season (June through mid-November) and never once paid to park but it's probably more of a problem in the high season.
If you're eating at the Lime Inn there are a few spots out front you just have to move one of the concrete filled buckets and put it back when you leave.
If you're eating at Mongoose Junction (shopping center) and can't find a spot out front there are lots around back.

Cross Big Belly Deli off the lunch list in Coral BAy. We stopped for sandwiches on Tuesday and he told us he was closing in 8 days...packing up his stuff and leaving St John. When I asked how business was he said it was off 40% from last year and last year was off 40% from the year before...he also pretty much told us he can't give that business away. Too bad...our wraps he made were delish on the beach that day.
Other food news I saw was not encouraging for Chateau Bordeaux. We drove by around 6 PM this past Sat nite and not open. Perhaps they aren't up and running yet? Pia? Ruth?
Yet another BIG disappointment for Coral BAy, was that Sweet Plantains had not opened as of Tues. We got a reopen date of Dec 10 but heard that was even questionable.
