Local Photographer (St. Thomas):
Please join the Forum (Editors note- not this forum!) in viewing Damon Winter’s photos and hearing about his work, this Thursday at 8 pm in Prior-Jollek Hall (on the Antilles campus – come in the main entrance and climb up the hill, parking as close to the top as you can -- then walk east for about two minutes and you will see the hall).
A graduate of All Saints, Damon grew up in St. Thomas and then went on to graduate from Columbia University. This year Damon was awarded the prestigious Pulitzer Prize in Feature Photography for his coverage of the Obama campaign for the New York Times. While that assignment may sound like the most interesting assignment possible, Damon has also covered conflicts in Israel and Afghanistan; he’s covered the Olympics and feature stories in Vietnam, Cuba, Russia and India. He will be happy to answer questions about all of his work. (He has thus far not been assigned to go to Iraq as I previously stated –apologies!)
