Pulling together the ultimate USVI/BVI sailing playlist

Post by Gromit »

In addition to my usual STJ playlist I'm pulling together a few extra songs in honor of my upcoming sailing adventure with scubagirl and VickiH and our respective hubbies. Bearing in mind that I have all the usual island slongs and a fairly extensive playlist (Chesney, Buffett, Marley, Johnson etc.) I am on the hunt for some boat centric songs.

Here's what I have so far: for the new playlist

Orinico Flow (Sail Away) - Enya
Come Sail Away - Styx
Come Away with me - Norah Jones
SHiver Me Timbers- Tom Waits
Sail On- The Commodores
Cool Change - Little River Band
Brandy (You're a Fine Girl)- Looking Glass
Terra Nova - James Taylor
Don't Rock My Boat - Bob Marley
Downeaster "Alexa" - Billy Joel
Boots of Spanish Leather - Bob Dylan
The Horizons Been Defeated - Jack Johnson
Sail Away - Sister HAzel
The SUn and the Wind - Gene MIthcell
Sail Away- David Gray

Any other thoughts?

I can't believe we'll be there in a week!!

My favorite boating song is...

I'm on a boat (featuring TPain) The Lonely island from the Incredibad album.

Warning! It is explicit!

Check out the video on youtube.. it's hilarious!

I would throw in Kokomo by the Beach Boys; not exactly about sailing, but sailing in the VIs is bout as close to Kokomo as you can get,

Shoot, I thought Syd had already banned anything but her Kenny. So you mean I went and learned all the lyrics to "She Thinks My Tractor's Sexy" for nothing?

Yes! John and I saw this on Saturday Night Live right after we returned from our first "on season" trip. It was a "different" crowd than we are used to, and that video was so perfect for some of the boat people we saw. We laughed so hard that we were both crying! I have this song on my ipod and it still makes me laugh.

How about Lyle Lovett: If I Had a Boat?
It's like looking in your soup and finding a whole different alphabet.
