Do airfare price guarantees really work?

Post by pmk »

Has anyone here gotten a refund? Our flights to STT on American just dropped over $160 what we paid -- but I think I'll only get cash back if someone books the same flight from the same vendor (think, "O").

I sort of wish I had waited ...

wow lucky you, I would check into this right away. If not cash back, maybe at least, credit towards future flights. Have nothing to lose. Know that Delta and Jet Blue gives credit back, have gotten it a few times.
No ticker anymore. Next vac will prob. be the Fl Keys.

I wish I felt lucky, but I sort of think that "O"'s price assurance is a bit of a scam. I guess I'm wonder what the chances are that there's going to be a fellow traveller going to STT on the exact same schedule, purchasing it from "O."

So far, no one.

Yeah - the "O" price guarantee can only work if you are in a metro area and are REALLY lucky. They have to book the exact same schedule as you at a lower cost. Our tickets last year dropped, but from Louisville Kentucky there was nobody on our exact schedule through Charlotte to STT on the same flights. Don't count on it at all as you book your tickets.

But - here's the good news.... YOU'RE GOING TO THE VIRGIN ISLANDS!!!!!

Since they dropped that much you should be able to contact the airline. But you'll only come out $60 ahead after the $100 change fee. So if it's worth that $60 to you I say go ahead and take advantage directly with the airline, if you can.

Otherwise you cna hope and pray that someone else books that itinirary....

Yes, I'm still hoping. You'd think that a non-stop BOS > STT for $328 would be pretty attractive. I recommend travelling on Jan 1 / Jan 10. :)
