St. George Island FL (Off Topic)
I was wondering if anyone from this forum has been to St. George? I have not been there before, but I am going tomorrow with a group of 10 adults and 8 kids. Just looking for any last minute tips or advice. We will be there a week. Thanks!!

Hey KYgirl - Must be spring break! I can't help you with St. George Island, but I hope you have a great time. I'm heading tomorrow to take my two boys to Gulf Shores, Alabama. We'll see how that goes... long car ride...!
Have fun and I hope you have awesome weather!

I was there for a family reunion several years ago and my brother, who lives in Tallahassee, goes there quite a bit.
It's pretty laid back. Beautiful beaches and homes, but not a whole lot to do. The kids can fish, kayak, and hang out on the beach. We took snorkel gear but there isn't much to see.
You can watch porpoises smimming and may be able to see them up close from a kayak.
We drove across the bay to Apalachicola and bought a bushel of fresh oysters - they were great.
Understand that I was last there in 1999, so there is likely a little more in the way of development and activities now, but I understand that it's still fairly quiet.
Have fun!

Thanks augie! I didn't think there was much to do, but I would like it that way. When we take the kids somewhere like Destin or Orlando, they want to go, go, go . . . putt putt, race cars, shop, etc. We want them to enjoy pretty much what you mentioned . . . hanging out on the beach, fishing, kayaking, boogie boarding, and maybe renting a boat for a day. With 18 people, I don't think they should need a lot of other entertainment.
Thanks for the heads up regarding the snorkeling. I still plan to take mine . . . I could use some extra practice before going to St. John in May!
I wish I could have those oysters. I love them, but after too many times eating oysters and having a couple cocktails, thinking "wow, I didn't drink that much . . . what's wrong with me?", I figured out that it's the oysters that make me soooooooo sick.
Anyway, I didn't intend to make this so long, but thank you for the tips!!
