Boston restaurants

Post by Xislandgirl »

We are heading to Boston next month for 2 nights, midweek.
Chip loves the Barking Crab, so I know that we will be there on our first night.

We will be looking for a North End restaurant and a couple breakfast and lunch spots.

The goal for this trip is low key. I want to have some good casual food, no fine dining this trip.

Thoughts or suggestions?

North End: Pomodoro. Cash only, they only have red wine or white wine by the glass, or beer. I especially like their linguini with clam sauce, the roasted cod, and the salmon. It appears that they have brunch now, I have not tried it.

Another good casual option in the North End is the Daily Catch. They are famous for their squid ink pasta...I like their linguini with clams. They serve the food right in the skillets they cook it in. Go to the North End location, not the waterfront one (service is bad at waterfront).

It's like looking in your soup and finding a whole different alphabet.

This was one of Rachel Ray's picks. They have great fried calamari and lobster or butternut squash filled ravioli. No reservations and it's pretty small so lines form early, but definitely worth the wait. Small and charming. And a block away is Mike's Pastries

Pomodoro is really good. I've had the brunch at her place in Brookline. I'm not a brunch person but her selections are really different and delicious.
