Our Gov. John De Jongh
Do you think that it is right that our Governor spent over $40k on his private residence in a time of economic crisis?
Yes we do because I don't feel like dealing with my real world today.California Girl wrote:As long as it's his own money I don't see any problems with it. If he's using taxpayer money, then that's not cool.
I think we need more details on this to judge fairly.
There is an uproar in my area about money being spent on certain municipal improvement progjects. What people don't understand is the deferred maintenance has reached a point were items must be addresses.
Necessary repairs - timing might be bad but needs to be done
A new pool? - would not be good, at all.

From what I have read the Governor elected to stay in his own home instead of move to the Governor's mansion when he was elected.
Because of that, the Senators voted and approved an amount of money, to make security improvements to his home. That was well within the law of the VI.
I also believe that the bidding process was not followed correctly and many of the projects went way over budget and know the Senate is pissed off; as well they should be.
