warm and sunny

Post by nancyr84 »

Can everyone out there tell me where they have stayed that have had the sunniest warm pools. We love to take a morning swim before beaches and a swim after.

Personally, I think it may be best to whittle your villa options down to a handful, know exactly when you're going, and then ask feedback on this board that specifies if they've rented and used the villas' pools at that particular time frame.

Reason I'm saying this, as a long time St. John visitor, is at first we would be so surprised to rent the same places and sometimes find the pools like bathwater and other times find it very cool.

We finally figured out--I'll use us being from the North as a good excuse for how long it took us--that because St. John is so close to the equator, it means that--unlike the north--the sun sets at about the same time every day there BUT WHERE it sets month by month is amazingly DIFFERENT! Which finally indicated to us that the path of the sun--which of course determines both how much sun a pool gets and whether it shines on the pool directly from on top or obliquely from low on the horizon--changes dramatically month by month!

Thus, you can use the same pool in April, for example, and it's like a hot tub, and then use it in October, and it's like Lake Michigan.

Does that help?
