St John gifts-info for users

Post by djmom »

Hi-
We are almost up to 3000 gifts sent! Wish I could make some money off it. LOL.

Anyways, something that was a little disturbing for me...when you get on the application now it says to enter your email to "find out about when new gifts are added" or something like that.

PLEASE don't do that. That has nothing to do with my application that I know of.

The gift applications are all run by a software developer. The email request may be legitimate and simply trigger an email when I add a gift. But I am always suspicious when someone asks for your email for no real reason (they could just send you a facebook notification if something is added).

So best case scenario is someone is going to get your email to send you spam. Worst case is more sinister-I have heard about some facebook scams that are more disturbing.

Anyways, wanted to let you know I would never ask for anyone's email. Likewise, when you get notifications on Facebook that gifts have been added (and usually none have been) I am NOT the one sending them, it is the software developer trying to increase the use of their applications, I guess to get advertisers.

Anyways, just do the basic stuff (gift sending and receiving) and nothing else and you are fine!

I am sure this applies to all gift applications-and many other Facebook applications.

Just wanted to let you know!

Susan

Susan - I love the St. John Gifts! I have a question though - my husband's name never comes up as some I can send them to (yes he is a friend) and my name never comes up on his list. Is it just a weird quirk or is there something we need to do. I can (and do) send them to the kids, sisters...
