Time-lapse: A day in the life of St. John USVI

Post by murf »

Here's a time-lapse movie (1st one) I compiled with October 14, 2009 snapshots from the Villa Serendipity webcam. There was a short but nice rainbow at the 8:01am mark as well as a pretty good drenching of St. Thomas around 2:45pm that are of special interest. I'll try to do more of these when I have the time. It's in HD, so if you have that capability, then it's even better! It runs about 4 minutes. Hope you like it.

Pretty cool! May I ask what your set up is and how you remotely set this up?

Wow, that's really nice! I think I'll be watching it over and over again. Watching the clouds is amazing and the rainstorm... just wow. Thanks! :D

I love days when I see something totally new to me.
I am having trouble defining my experience here with this time lapse...
seeing something so familiar in a new way. (I check the webcams often.)

love the movement of the boats - as on ice, not water
love the glimpse of the rainbow
love the flow of the clouds
love, love the end when the lights are coming on
good music choice with the play of the boats

Thank you; I did enjoy and very much like this movie!

I loved that! The rainshower at about 330 is so cool!

Huge difference if you watch in HD. That was great.

Thanks Wakey for the HD tip. It's much better with this link:

For 50%ChanceofRain:

The Netcam XL webcam camera has a secondary path to store images using date/time which I set. I then downloaded all the images to my computer at days end and used Apple Quicktime to build an image sequence and create the movie. Much easier that I thought.
