What this forum means to me....

A place for members to talk about things outside of Virgin Islands travel.

Well, I really like the OT forum as well. I read what I'm interested in, and skip the rest. I love trip reports from other places and I really like looking at photos.

If someone wants to discuss politics fine, but it would be good to start an own thread, so I can can see that in the subject and ignore it.

With that said, I'm definitely not staying awake angry about someone hijacking my thread. I just thought "oh crap", and then I moved on and did something else.

Now I might go find some pictures and post on Liamsaunt's great thread around the world.

"oh crap" - universal saying, like "no" :)

I too enjoy the OT forum and just skip threads that may not interest me.

So, let the politico's have there say if they must, just start from scratch.

Not really something you would say in Sweden. I tend to think in English sometimes, because I spend some time on this and other forums and also email and FB with US friends :D .

Maybe Anthony could start a political forum for the people that like to talk politics, since it seems to get alot of peoples panties in a bind

So true Jimmy........and I think Lulu makes a good point. Some people do say things on the internet they would never say to your face.
I wanted to say that this forum has been such a blessing.
I really was so sad when I had to leave island in 2005, even though I knew I had to be nearer my mom.
So much has happened since then. But to me to be able to talk with people (via messaging) that love St. John as much as me is so nice
Ivan has met so many of you and says you are all so kind. He by far is the best judge of charactor, better then me......lol
Saying that I think if you do not like a topic, just do not read it. No need to be spitting and spatting at someone when they are not supporting your take on things....jmho

I've only been to Jost once, and never had the good fortune of meeting Ivan..., bummer for me ,I imagine.
I actually just got off the phone with one of my closest friends, Bob, who introduced me to STJ a few years ago.
We agreed that we're both ecstatic about our upcoming visit in November.
I mentioned to him the marvel I'm held in while I get so excited to go somewhere, to relax so much.
He agreed.
That's just one of the things I love about this forum; sharing our passions while we await our next visit.
I can't wait to smell the heat from the tarmac as we set foot at the airport!!! 8)

Groovy, Rosi!
That first blast of heat from the tarmac as soon as you get off the plane is sobering, as well as intoxicating.
Looking forward to meeting yous' guys.
You're gonna' love my Sweet Amy!.-
Not long now!

:D
I really like the off topic forum. I like to read trip reports from different places and see beautiful pics, and I find it fun to write TR myself, I like to read what happens “my friends” in their everyday life, I get touched if someone is sick and a lot of forum members try to comfort or help with good advice, I don’t mind the political discussions, and I like to participate myself, for me it’s interesting to learn more about the American culture and system.

:(
But I dislike when people don’t talk nice, and I wonder, when I see somebody use every opportunity trying to wipe the floor with their own president (Bush or Obama), so I understand, why others want to stop these political discussions.

:D :D
Luckily most of the topics are "nice" topics, so I'm sure I still will enjoy to be a member of the forum.

And as soon as I have the time I will show a lot of pictures in Liamsaunt's topic "Around he world" , which I find so exiting.

I would say that I've greatly increased my skills in ignoring people with bad manners. I really wish we hadn't had quite so much practice, though.

Personally, I wouldn't change a thing on the off topic forum. Heck, it's the interweb, not real life. Roll with it. If you want to join in the tussle, jump in. If it's not for you, mouse click away. It's no thing.
I agree.

I disagree with "most" people being nice. I really think everyone is nice--we just disagree.

Who said that most people were nice? I can't find that reference.
I see discussion about "playing nice", "talking nice" and "nice topics".
Who are you disagreeing with?

Here's what my grandma always said to me and my brother:

"Fight nice!"

I guess everyone can decide if they have been fighting nice...or not.
"Sponges grow in the ocean...I wonder how much deeper it would be if that didn't happen."
