wine help (again)
Loria,
Either you or the guy at the wine store told me about that. I liked that a lot. There was also a wine called Torrentes??? I think that is a type of wine? I liked both of them.
So that is an ok match with the German? Do I serve a chardonnay too?

"Sponges grow in the ocean...I wonder how much deeper it would be if that didn't happen."
Susan, I think you'll have a hard time finding a reisling you'll enjoy in the price range you are looking at. They'll all be quite sweet.
Another direction, not usually German, but Austrian (is that close enough?) would be a gruner vetliner. Ironically, I just read in this month's Food and Wine that this grape is out of fashion right now (whatever!), but they're generally not sweet. I guess I would say they are usually herbal and peppery. This is the wine my family usually serves with German food. You should be able to find one at your price point.

It's like looking in your soup and finding a whole different alphabet.
