Old travel pix

Post by jmq »

Greetings all - Just got a new flatbed scanner and tried it with a few old slides, so I figure I’d subject you all to some of em.

Obvious to me I’ll have to dust em off better and/or learn how to use the software tool that came with it that can do that.

If I post more I’ll try to limit them to the best of the best.

Very nice. Where in Bermuda was that photo taken? (If you remember!)

I spent HOURS spotting some of the old photos I've posted. Pre-dusting is an excellent thing to do!

I think it would be pretty cool if your post started a new blog with folks posting pics of past travels. For me, scanning many of our old pics is a pain because most are in photo albums that have a plastic page covering them that is so old that it's hard to get the photo out without damaging it.

Does 10 years count as old?

It seems like forever ago to me so I'll say yes ;)

jmq,
did you scan "slides". I have a flat bed scanner but never thought of scanning "slides. Have some from the late 70's early 80's also. How does that work?

Same thing as negatives?

My neighbor has some stuff from Germany from before & during the war.

I just Googled this and it appears you can scan negatives. :D

cocosmom - My scanner came with a slide and negative holder and software that prompts you to choose what is being scanned: negatives; prints; positive film (slides); etc.
If you don’t have any of that, I imagine you could try just putting some slides on there knowing it would be trial and error, or maybe seeing if there is some downloadable free or for purchase software available that is compatible with your scanner that would enable film scanning.
