Bermuda restaurant recommendations?
Bermuda restaurant recommendations?
We are going to Bermuda for a long weekend next month. Haven't been back since 2002, and most of the places we used to go to are closed. Has anyone been recently, and have you any recommendations for dinner? I dislike most of the pubs on the island, and also dislike the Swizzle Inn and the Lobster Pot. I realize that you don't go to Bermuda for the food, but I am hoping not to completely strike out. Don't want Italian (too heavy). I checked chowhound and trip advisor, but there's not much there.
Thanks!
Thanks!

We haven't visited since 2004, but these may be to your liking -
Not sure of the name, but it is the restaurant at the Waterloo Inn (downtown Hamilton). On a nice night, you can sit outside overlooking the water.
Tom Moore's Tavern - don't remember the exact location, but vaguely remember a ~$25 cab fare (from Hamilton).
Our other favorite, Paw Paws, was turned into a 2nd Swizzle Inn. I don't think they have relocated.
If Ariel Sands has reopened, Acqua(?) was very good.
And if you do visit a pub, the Hog and Penny has some of the best onion rings.
Have a great trip.

The Waterlot not to be confused with the Waterloo at the Fairmount was excellent as is Tom Moores the food there is wonderful but the cab ride is about $20 each way from where we stayed at the Elbow Beach Resort. I also agree the the Hog Penny is a great pub the onion rings are the best ever and the bar supposedly is the one they copied for the show Cheers. Have fun!

I didn't know that about the Hog Penny! I've eaten there a couple of times and did not notice the similarities.
I am going to call for a reservation for Coconuts at the Reefs one night, and I found out about this place called Mels Spicy Dicy that has a Bermudian fish sandwich--apparently it is fried fish on raisin bread topped with coleslaw and hot sauce. Sounds unusual enough that I just have to try it!
