The price of Cruzan in NJ

Post by Connie »

So, we spent a week at our shore place last week and I always have to some Pineapple Rum for a night cap.

It was $18.49 for a bottle!!! Wow!!! Just thinking about how much I could get it in the Islands made me mad, but had to have it.

What's the price in your neighborhood?

I'm not in New Jersey, but here in Nashville, it's usually at least $15 for the flavors and around $10 to $12 for light or dark. Black Strap is $19.25.

I know people think I'm nuts for paying to check a box of liquor, but believe me, I did the math and it makes a lot of sense. But I drink a lot and I also drink Clipper, which I've never been able to find in the U.S. anywhere.

There is one liquor store here that does 2 for $20 mix and match on light and dark fifths (it's $4.99 for a liter at Pine Peace, but what can you do?). Anyhow, sometimes I can convince them to let me throw a flavor in on the special if I get a light or dark with it.

Most places in NJ the flavors are now up to $16.99 for the 750ml No doubt you paid the inflated shore price. This reminds me to stock up - booze and wine taxes going up in NJ on Aug. 1

BTW Has anyone ever seen the flavored Cruzan any where stateside in the bigger 1 liter bottles that are most common in the VIs? Are they even exported to the mainland?

I have seen 1.5 liter coconut bottles occasionally, but really I mostly just see fifths.

In Baltimore it is 13.99 for 750ml for cruzan flavors. That just went up from 11.99 about 6-8 weeks ago.

Oh, doesn't it hurt to pay those prices?

I guess instead of putting it in the freezer and pouring it straight over ice, I'll have to start mixing it with something else :D

Here in FL we can get 750ml flavored on sale for 13 and regularly 15. The 750 ml light and dark I think are the same, however I usually buy the dark 1.75 liter for anywhere from 22-28.

And anyone who thinks you dont save money by carrying or checking a 6pack home is out of their mind.

USVI bought 6 x $6 = $36
Home bought 6 x $13/$15 = Lots mo money

Thats definitely worth the hassle for us alcoholics 8)

It cost ten bucks to check my box, but I only spent $41 on boozy goodness (there were $9 bottles of black strap in there). I am just hoping my friend who was just down there realized I was serious about bringing back an emergency bottle!

I paid $29 for a bottle of dark and a bottle of raspberry in Miami. It was painful, so I made painkillers. Lots of them.

WoW, don't hate me but I have never had to buy a bottle. Hubby worked for Cruzan for years before it was sold :( Just walk down to my basement...so when I run out, I have to pay $16 for my beloved vanilla rum???...sure glad I don't drink much. With this economy I will have to use more coke and less rum
