Best place to purchase Champagne?

Post by TravelinTexasGal »

Where should I pick up some descent Champagne? On St John or St Thomas? Looking for something descent but not expensive. Can anyone recommend a store or even a selection suggestion? Any help would be appreciated... Don't normally purchase alcohol.

We'll be there next week! :D

Starfish Gourmet has a great wine selection, and I'm sure I saw some champagne. Their prices seem decent, as well.

If you plan on checking your luggage, you could bubble wrap a bottle or 2 and bring it with you. Otherwise, Starfish Gourmet is the way to go. Bring $$$ 8)

We bought a couple of bottles at Starfish Gourmet for our sunset sail. Very good, and decent prices. Good selection of wines and beer, too. I asked for a good sparkling wine for not a lot of money, aand was led to a nice one.

I was just in the Food Center (near Redhook on St. Thomas) - the real French Champagne was a little on the high side - different brands started around $45 or $55 a bottle. But they also had plenty of other sparkling wine selections (Spain, US, etc.) including Chateau St. Jean (or St. Michelle?) - both from Washington State - that were around $12.99 - a pretty good price. I think nearly everyone has the same stock and similar prices as there are only a couple of distributors here. If you are on St. John Starfish has all the same things at comparable prices I am sure -

We compared prices with the Food Center in Red Hook on St. Thomas to the Starfish Gourmet store on St. John and the Food Center had much lower prices. We compared Wine, Champagne and Rum. All selections were comparable. :D
