Saltpond today

Post by Pia »

Hey Jorge and everyone else, (just knew this would get Jorge's attention :D )

Just past Saltpond today and thought I would let you know it's not the quiet little "secret" it used to be - 34 cars parked there at 12 noon :(

That's a bummer... :? We picked STJ because it seemed like a wonderful little secret--but someone keeps spilling the beans!

Gotta keep positive though. Yes, it won't be as secluded as it was 10 years ago, but it's still probably more private than it will be in the future! We'll be looking back at our memories as "the good ol' days!"

Oh my gosh, that is insane! I don't think I've ever seen more than 10 cars parked there...but I always go in July/August...I guess I'll plan to stay away in March for sure.

If Salt Pond was that busy what did the beaches with easier access look like?

I sure hope it's not that busy when were.there. My wife will kill me. She wanted to go to Maui but I talked her into STJ because it would be less crowded. If you don't hear from me after our trip just send flowers to my funeral

Time to start working on convincing the wife that we have to go back soon!

I'm afraid the secret has been out for the past few years. I used to have the same attitude that Teresarae expressed in the "how'd you get here?" thread,in that I never wanted to tell much about STJ. But 2 years ago when we went to the top of Ramhead and there was about 20 people up there, I resigned myself that the quiet, sleepy side of STJ was already a thing of the past. Then when I drove up the road going for miles over Vie's on the East End and saw all of the lots being cleared, I just wanted to puke.Privateer Bay was a single pimple in comparison to the severe case of acne that is coming to the East End. A guy who works in land acquisition for big developers lives down the road from me. He just came back from a consulting gig down on the East End and was telling me that they just got approval for another 70 some acres to be developed. Even 2 years ago, I didn't want to say where I stayed, other then Coral Bay, when I was on this board, but now I've given up on it being a secret. And when a certain entertainer, with a big following, sings about it, and expresses how great it is on major network interviews how could we ever keep it a secret?

I know what you mean. I’m a big fan KC’s OLD music, but he needs to shut his trap about our little piece of paradise

My keeping quiet doesn’t do a whole lot of good when he talks about STJ to millions.

Boy, I'm sorry to hear that, Pia. I can't even imagine where all those cars would park...let's just hope it's a fluke thing and not to be repeated. Like Jorge, that's one place I truly love on the island and it has been nice having it almost to myself.

It was a little bit cloudy in town yesterday, so that could account for the bigger than usual crowd at Salt Pond. Many people head to Salt Pond and Lambshur and other Coral Bay side beaches when it's cloudy in town and on the North Shore.

Wow - 34 cars - I have never seen more than a handful, ever, in several trips there. Time to get the Anegada forum cranking... oops! Did I say <a href="http://www.virgin-islands-on-line.com/c ... ada</b></a>?
