Tennis Villa and Cottage, St. John

Post by mfinn »

Hi. We are staying at the Tennis Villa and Cottage in St. John in Jan. Has anyone stayed there recently, if so, how did you like it? What did you dislike about it?

Thanks!

Tennis Villa/Cottage

Post by Bill W »

We rented both properties in May of last year. Overall, we liked it a lot. The pool is great, and having views of both Chocolate Hole and Great Cruz Bay is a treat. The pool at Tennis Cottage should be operational by now (I hope -- they poured the concrete the week we were there).

As you can see above - my husband is not a man of many words. Tennis Villa and Cottage are utterly wonderful, but a bit older. We liked this because we were traveling with small children and didn't need to worry so much. There are three bedrooms in the main house, two equal and one slightly larger. The bedroom next to the pool was terrific - probably my favorite. The kitchen is terrific - could use sharper knives - but I'm a knife snob. Living room is great - but not condusive to watching tv (the rounded stone walls bounce the sound around so much that you have to have the volume turned way up). Tennis Cottage is down a path (with stairs), but not too steep even for these old bones. The main bedroom there was quite nice, it has a small kitchen and perhaps the best shower tile work I've ever seen. The downstairs bedroom seemed a little dark - but my daughter loved it and the private porch (now overlooking the pool). The separate bedroom was the least best (saying its the worst just sounds all wrong) of all there are twin beds in the room, which we pushed together and the bathroom area is open to the sleeping area - but this room does have an outdoor shower. It can be a bit noisy as its next to the hot tub. This post may sound picky, but I loved the place and would go back in a heart beat. Have a wonderful time and say hi to Aghgh (one of the villa cats - you'll know which one if he's around, he doesn't really meow but goes aghgh aghgh until you pay attention to him - he's a wild lap cat) for us if he's still hanging around. If you have any specific questions, just pm me.
