Car rental question

Post by cliffnchristi »

Hi all!
We are taking a cruise in October. I know, I know, it made me cringe at first, too, but we got one heck of a deal and unfortunately was the only way we'd be able to afford getting to STJ this year. When we dock in STT, our plan is to hop on the ferry and go straight to STJ, rent a car for the day, hit Deli Grotto for some sandwiches and water and head straight for Maho, then come back into town in time for happy hour at Woody's (ship doesn't leave STT til 8:00). My queestion is: Is it realistic to think we can rent a car just for 6-8 hours? I know taxi's typically won't go as far out as Maho and that's our favorite beach. Would it be more realistic to catch a taxi to Hawksnest and then walk to Gibney and then catch a taxi back???

Just looking for a little quidance from fellow forumites who have more knowledge than me and I figure that's a lot of people!!! :)

In October it should be nooooo problem renting for a day - I would have the phone numbers handy and start calling on your way over from STT so it will save time once you arrive.

What ship will you be on ?

Since October is so slow, you may be able to call the week before you leave and arrange a car for the day. Another option is to rent a dinghy for a half-day.

Thanks for your replies and reassurance. I was hoping I would get the answers I got. We would much rather rent a car and have the freedom to move about if we want to.

Pia, we will be on Carnival Glory.
