What time does Sweet Plantains open?
Hi everyone,
Does anyone know what time Sweet Plaintains opens in the summer (June)? I tried calling them yesterday, but didn't get an answer.
I believe I read they are only open for dinner (let me know if that is incorrect information). Since we're staying on St. Thomas, will we have sufficient time to have an early dinner there and still make the 7 p.m. car ferry back to St. Thomas?
If that won't work, we might leave the rental car overnight in Slimman's parking lot, take the passenger ferry back to St. Thomas, and return the following day for another day on St. John.
Thanks.

The best option is to leave your car at Slimman's
Sweet Plantains (I believe) opens at 5:30pm or 6pm - I'll confirm with Rose - and you are 30 mins from Cruz Bay so if the 7pm barge is running you would need to be out of dinner no later than 6:15pm to give you enough driving time and "in line" at the ferry dock time.
Hope this helps
Pia

Thanks Pia,
I figured that's what the answer would be. Sweet Plantains is the one (dinner) restaurant in the Coral Bay area we have on our "really want to try to get to" list. Do you think this restaurant is worth going to all the extra trouble, or should we just save this one for another time when we actually stay on St. John?

That's really hard to answer as we (hubby and I) LOVE Sweet Platains and go at least once per week

If you like curries etc, Rose has wonderful West and East Indian curries (shrimp, chicken, tofu, fresh catch of the day) fabulous ribs with exotic spices, excellent pork tenderloin, along with all of her wonderful appitizers and desserts BUT if you don't like this type of food it will not be high on your list and maybe you should try it out and not make it a priority - byt imho for me it would be a "must do"
