Trip report 5/20-5/26 Arrival Day

Post by khud »

This is our 3rd trip to STJ in as many years. The 1st trip was for our anniversary, and we fell in love with the island. Our 2nd trip was last year with our 4 kids (2 young adults, 2 teens). They fell in love also so they are saving up for a return engagement, in the future, probably with their significant others. This year was for just me and hubby. We flew out of BOS at 7am and got into MIA at 10, which was 15 min early but then we sat on the tarmac for 15 min while they looked for an open gate. Our connecting flight left at 11 so there wasn’t much room for error. After deplaning we raced to our next gate and arrived just in time to board. (we like living dangerously). The flight arrived on time at 1:30. We were hoping to get our luggage by 2 and then make the 3:00 RH ferry. Our bag was the last one onto the belt, and we didn’t get a taxi until 2:15 so we decided to go for the CA ferry at 3:00. The ride over to STJ got us in the mood for our vacation. We were met at the dock by our greeter, Crystal. She was super nice. She took us to Conrad Sutton’s for out rental Jeep. After Mr. Sutton warmed up to us we got along famously. He reminded us of Fred Sanford. (I think Jhud calling him, sir,as is his way, helped) Crystal led us out to our villa: Blue Heaven Rendezvous and we were charmed. After showing us around and answering our questions she left us alone at last in paradise.

After exploring the villa and settling in, we went to Starfish Market and got some staples to go with the food that we brought. We grilled hotdogs and had mac n cheese for supper. We relaxed in the hot tub and drank in the essense of STJ.
Oh, and here are some critters that greeted us when we arrived.

Your comment about connections and living dangerously made me laugh. Even in my tranquilized flying state I would have been a nervous wreck.

That house looks so cute, I love the colors. Please post more about it.

We did that same flight out of Logan last year. I felt like OJ Simpson running through the airport to get to the other gate....lol!

Great trip report so far and also some great pics.

I was also curious about the name Jhud? I assume it's pronounced "Judd". What's the story behind it? Is it ethnic or a family name...just curious, and probably a bit nosy too.

Peace,
Cid

Cid,
Jhud, is actually J-Hud, as I am K-Hud. First letter of first names combined with first 3 letters of last name. Curiosity is welcome.

Ok....that makes more sense. I might have figured that out had I been a little more awake this morning...lol. Some things just strike you as odd and you have to ask. Heheheeeee....
