Ditleff??
One of our favorite snorkels is around the point at Ditleff Bay. Last year they had just started construction in the area and there was talk of a gate so "us poor folk"
(who can't spend 4 million for a lot) can't get to the beach. Is the road still open?? And if not, is there any way to get there except by boat?
We were there last week and drove down the peninsula since the gate was open. We looked at some of the lots for sale, walked out to the point and enjoyed the fabulous views, marveled at how they can build a house on a cliffside, then walked down the beautiful stone path to the little beach. I don't recall seeing any "no trespassing" signs, but I might have missed them.
On their website www.ditleffpoint.com they do state it will be 'St John for the select few' so the gate will eventually be up and locked - there may still be water access from Klein Bay and you can snorkel out from there - beach access is not restricted from the water in the VI - this is guaranteed in the Open Shoreline Act - since this is a subdivision on private property they likely do not have to provide public access by land however - the property was held at one time by the Rockefeller family Jackson Hole Company and those deed transfers are listed on the above website.
I was checking a while back and I recall a beach access easement on this property with plans for pedestrian access to the beach.
Yep, I checked and Section 19 of the Ditleff Point Covenants (page 6) details the beach easement. But, it looks like that is just for owners and guests.

No pit bulls allowed, I guess Gus and I have to find another island home.
