I'm not a Star Trek fan by any stretch, but really want to see it.
My wife does NOT want me to see it. She hates all things JJ Abrams. She hates Lost and detested Cloverfield. OF course, both make me so excited you can see it through my shirt.
So...I want to see it just because of who directed it.
Appropos of nothing, did we all see that JJ and David Lindelhof have optioned the Dark Tower series.
I need chain mail to contain myself.

you're a better person than I. we went yesterday - Charlie saw Star Trek and I was right next door seeing The Soloist. It's like going to the movies together, right?sailorgirl wrote:Just got back from seeing it ourselves. Hubbie is a trek fan, me .. it sort of was not on my radar as a kid but it was a very well done movie. Lots of fun and some great surprises... that's all Ill say

Absolulety! Compromise is what marriage is all about. I think you could have gotten through Star Trek though, it was sufficnelty enterianing. Although the coming attractions attached to the movie were interminable, all the big loud repatitive mindless summer movies.mbw1024 wrote:you're a better person than I. we went yesterday - Charlie saw Star Trek and I was right next door seeing The Soloist. BTW... happy Mom's day to a fellow WSM ...wicked step mom

I think I'm going to wait until next weekend to see the movie and avoid the crowds. As a big time trekkie of course I've been looking forward to it... but with guarded anticipation. It took me almost 2 years to accept the Next Generation cast. I'm such a purist! LOL!
The movie has been getting great reviews though! That makes me happy!

Sorry, I thought Charlie had a daughter... must have you guys confused with someone else. No matter one of my friends gets a gift from her Mom every mother's day because " if it weren't for you I wouldn't be a mother."mbw1024 wrote:Not me.
