So what things do you do from home to get your STJ fix? For me, I ...
1) read the forum (obviously)
2) read the Tradewinds (we have a subscription)
3) read one of Gerald Singer's books (or Pam Gaffin's)
4) sit outside in the yard and chill, enjoying the breeze and view, imagining a beach

Besides this forum I like the webcams & looking at my pictures.
On St. Johns blog is a must also as is Reef Madness.

Read the forum! And the tradewinds, and the daily news, on-st. john etc.
We also have our photos linked through our playstation to our home theater system, so we can watch our pictures in HD like a movie. Our screen is 110", it's almost as good as being there (not really, but it suffices on a cold evening).
The other thing, (kind of weird), that I do is that I have a drawer full of the bottles of shampoo, conditioner, and body lotion that they give you at Caneel. All I have to do is open the drawer and the smell brings me back to St. John in my mind.
And the most important thing I do from home to get a St. John fix...plan the next trip!

It's like looking in your soup and finding a whole different alphabet.

My fixes are:
1-I read the forum several times a day.
2-I read the St John Tradewinds
3-I read the St John Source - http://stj.onepaper.com/
4-I read the St John Music and Events schedule - http://www.seestjohn.com/arts_music.html#events
5-I look at the Spicecam
6-I check out the cruise ship arrival at Trunk to plan my week.
7-I email the newbies coming with us St John pictures every Monday and Friday along with a countdown ticker of the days left.....we're at 14 now!
8-I drive my husband crazy talking the trip.
9-I print out my packing list and obsess over it.
Basically it's on my mind constantly!

I start by just throwing stuff on the bed for at least a month prior everytime I think of something or come across something that should go.
But because I am anal.. I also creat a packing check list and leave that on the bed with a pen and when I put it in the bag I check it off the list.
LOVE the LL bean bag!

*Another fine scatterbrained production

We live 4 hours from the airport so we have to stay overnight in a hotel before our flight the next morning and stay the night after our flight back and then drive 4 hours home the next morning. It's a pain.
So, I pack a separate bag for the clothes I am wearing the morning of the flight, clothes to wear home the morning of the drive home after the flight and it also hold the dirty clothes from the previous travel days. This stays in the car at the hotel the week we are gone.
The newbies coming with us are starting to think this trip is a lot of trouble. They keep saying how many suitcases do we need to bring? I keep assuring them that it will be worth it. I've also had to apologize to them for being so OCD about the trip. I just like to be prepared and organized.

Ahhh, the magic rocks. Brings back sweet memories.mbw1024 wrote:I have 2 of Don Schnell's little magic rocks or whatever they are called. They are on my desk and I fiddle with them all the time. They are also very cool so some times I press them on my temples and let the STJ vibe seep through my skin! LOL I know .. weird!
I also start a STJ pile. Mine goes in the corner of my retreat and as the trip gets closer, the pile gets bigger. I also start about a month out but cause I'm OCD and have a check list, I know exactly what I've packed LOL!
My fave pre-vacay preparation activity though is definitely scouting out new swimwear/island wear. I love when I find a cute new suit or sundress.
