I for one am glad to see this. I prefer to leave from downtown -- even if there isn't a fancy place to sit and wait. But to be honest the fare + the extra baggage fees are making it a more expensive proposition for folks to get to STJ.
I also felt that $10 was pretty steep and a deterrent for folks wanting to head to STT for a day of shopping and/or lunch since you'd have to tack on $20 a person for a round trip. Or vice versa -- someone staying on STT who wanted to go to STJ for the day. When you add in taxi prices it starts to get pretty steep.
For some reason this makes people think twice. Honestly if merchants were smart they'd offer some program for free ferry ride with a stamp or recipt of a purchase of $25 or even $50 or more to keep people shopping and spending $$$. But that's just me.
In the meantime the lower ferry costs from Downtown are welocme especially when fuel prices are more reasonable these days.
