Race for the ferry?

Post by Armchair Traveler »

Hi All,

We are landing at 12:26pm one week from tomorrow! Are the odds good that we could make the 1pm CA ferry since we are doing carry on only? Thx!

Honestly I wouldn't count on it unless you are sitting in first class. It takes at least 10-15 mins to de-plane if you're in cattle class cause everyone else has to get their sh!t down.

A safe option would be to take the ferry to red hook and get the 2pm (have a drink at the new bar there while u wait) and you'll be on STJ by 2:20.

Even if you caught the 1pm from CA you'd still be getting there at 1:45. So you're really only shaving off 35 mins. Why rush like that?

Its Vacay! Enjoy!!
*Another fine scatterbrained production

It will be really, really, tight tight and I would have to say chances are no :(

If you land on time, buy the time they taxi to the gate and bring the stairs to the aircraft it might be 12:35pm - make sure your seats are at the very front of the plane next to the doors - and run to a taxi so probably 12:40pm (you would probably need to pay for a private taxi $$$ as you are not going to want to wait for the taxi to fill before leaving) If you are on your way by 12:45pm you "probably" will make it - just but it will be very very close

It seems to take a while to wait on your luggage also. You would have to have all carry-on to make that work.

Do what we are doing. Race over there and miss the ferry. Sit and drink at the bar until the next ferry...

Thanks guys! The last thing I want is to begin a vacation stressing over something so we will probably head to RH, though Boston Mike has the right idea!

Oh, I was assuming it was carry on only :) - no chance if you are checking luggage :)

Pia, you had it right, we are doing carry on only. Who knows, maybe we'll land early and make it! Yeah, right... ;)

Haha, that is my preferred method also! :D

That's the good thing....you don't have to decide in advance. On the off chance you arrive early, head over to CA. If you arrive on time or later, your destination is RH.

No stress.

We never really decide which ferry we are taking until we land. It is way nicer now that Red Hook has the ferry terminal in our opinion. We just sit and have a cocktail if we have to wait.
Going "home" again October 26th!
