Beach movie soundtracks as inspiration for playlists

Post by Gromit »

So Sun4MySoul inspired me to go in search of new songs and I thought it would be fun to hunt down soundtracks for Beach or Island themed movies with the idea that I might come across some interesting stuff and so far so good.

But for some reason I have hit the wall on the movies. Here's what I've checked out thus far:

The Beach (with DiCaprio)
Fools Gold
Thomas Crown Affair (with Brosnan)
Swept Away
Cocktail
Captain Ron
After the Sunset
Blue Crush

What other movies am I missing that might have some possibilities...?

Yeah-- I've got that soundtrack already. But that's what I'm talking about... any others?

If you're looking for something other than soundtracks check out Pam Hall. Very nice.

My musical taste is more schizo than eclectic ... but here goes.

You forgot 50 First Dates ;-)

The September Sessions - AWESOME laid back surfer dude vibe.
Surf's Up - disney movie but fun soundtrack
Miami Vice - either the tv series or the movie
Dirty Dancing Havana Nights --- DON'T Judge. The movie was awful but its a great soundtrack
Mamma Mia (sort of beachie...that was the bluest water ever)
Message in a Bottle

Point Break
How Stella Got her Groove Back

Not BEACH themed movies but GREAT soundtracks:

The Last Kiss - where I discovered Amos Lee with his amazing Arms of a Woman
The Big Easy
Vicky Cristina Barcelona
Midnight in the Garden of Good and Evil - cool songs by Kevin Spacey and one by Clint Eastwood
Hope Floats
Oceans 11

 NOOOO!!!

Some of the stuff on the Lilo and Stitch soundtracks is actually pretty good, for beachy stuff. There's some Harry Belafonte, and I like the Hawaiian kids singing. I think they are called Island Favorites, or something like that.

Also, check out the Cool Runnings soundtrack. Not the score, the one that has the music from the motion picture.
It's like looking in your soup and finding a whole different alphabet.

The Big Bounce.

I think that is the title, it was out a few years back. Owen Wilson, Morgan Freeman, Gary Sneese. Set on the North Shore in Hawaii.
