Speaking of iPhones & Speakers

Post by flip-flop »

Does anyone out there have a recommendation for a speaker (smallish/think desktop or bedside) that is compatible with the 3G iphone and charges the phone.

I have a jbl that worked fine w/ my 1st gen and still will play the music but doesn't charge my 3G. Grrrrrr......

I have the same problem. Bought a good quality speaker system for my ipod video last May and it worked awesome. Now with the iphone it won't charge it and hassles me everytime I put my iphone on it. It will play, but I have to exit out of a couple pop up comments on the iphone and then power cycle the speaker system. Spent over $100 on it and really don't want to replace it since its only 1 year old :x

I apparently don't know how to cut/paste a link to the Forum...perhaps someone can help.

This is the Scosche Passport. I own it and it works great for making your old speakers etc charge your new iPod devices. I have the new iPod Touch, same size etc as the 3G phone and it works fine with all my old speakers, car adapters, etc.

And you can use the Amazon link to purchase it through the Forum! 8)

I feel you Schnell...I have a bose sound dock for my ipod that is probably 2 years old. Luckily I still have the ipod photo whatever that I use in it when we need tunes for entertaining. I am not spending another $300!

iHome has several products but they also include a clock.. dunno if that's a deal breaker for you.

I like this one and it has a remote:

You can probably get it cheaper on Amazon...

I was not interested in spending more money on compatible speakers etc, either. That's why I was glad to find this handy (and inexpensive) adapter to charge my new iTouch while its playing on the speakers. They make a different one that I believe is the correct size to fit in the Bose Dock. I bought both, but the smaller 'passport' is the only one I use.
