day sails, internet, & grocery shopping
day sails, internet, & grocery shopping
A few questions to the experts out there:
We will be staying near Cruz Bay and want to visit The Baths and Virgin Gorda. Any recommendations of which charter to enjoy that is not too expensive?
Will be leaving an older and ill dog-where can I check my email in Cruz Bay area?
We will rent a car on STT and shop for groceries at Pueblo. Is it advisable to buy perishables(meat, dairy) and hope to take the car ferry? Does Pueblo sell ice and styrofoam coolers? It could be 3 hours til we get to the place we are staying.
What's the latest in restaurant recommendations, moderately priced?
Thanks so much!!!!!!

Pueblo is really not a bargain - I would try Cost U Less, Pricesmart and/or K-Mart - K-Mart has all kinds of stuff (cereal, juices, soda, liquor), but not produce or a meat section. (If I am recalling correctly).

For email checking I use Connections which is right on the main square, easy to access, and I think it was $3/15 minutes.

I know when I leave pets I always have to be in touch to check on them-I feel for you!
Good luck!

I'll second the recommendation for the NHII trip. We had a fun time with them. I used connections last year to check my email (only once--my office was being restructured while I was away so I was wondering if I would have a job when I got back!). I think I paid about $3 for 10 minutes.
Moderately priced restaurants that we like in Cruz Bay are the Lime Inn, the Balcony, and Panini Beach. For takeaway, onst-john.com just featured a new BBQ place just outside Cruz Bay that looked tasty. I'm blanking on the name but if you go to their site there's a video of the place.

It's like looking in your soup and finding a whole different alphabet.
Re: day sails, internet, & grocery shopping
We really enjoyed our charter with Pirates Penny, smaller than a party boat. Only 8 max. It was about $120/pp with tip, but that was 4 years ago almost.
Deli Grotto was great for a quick check of the email. Very convenient right in Cruz Bay in Mongoose Junction and not expensive. Also I never had to wait for a computer.
I don't know much about STT grocery shopping, but I am sure you could get a cheap cooler and ice. On STJ, I am a fan of Pine Peace for most of my shopping. Starfish is bigger and more like a grocery store, whereas Pine Peace is more like a VERY well stocked convenience/neighborhood store. I found Pine Peace prices to be very comparable to here. For example, diapers were about what I pay here.
My favorite moderately priced places (I guess moderate is relative) are Uncle Joe's BBQ take-out, Skinny Legs for burgers, Island Blues for ANYTHING, Ronnie's for Pizza, Donkey Diner for breakfast and for takeout pizza (only a couple nights a week and I can't remember which ones). Deli Grotto is also a great choice for food. Not cheap but one sandwich can easily feed two! There are lots of choices!
Enjoy your trip!!!

Thanks so much!..and 2 more
Thanks so much for all your good ideas!!!! Two more questions.....This forum is wonderful and has such personality!
Has anyone shopped for groceries at the Pueblo Mkt on STT?
Our taxi driver told us about it last year on the way to the airport.
Also-are people still getting drenched on the car ferry? Any recommendations on that?
