Beaching a Zodiac On Scott & Turtle Beaches

Post by snorkelqueen »

We'd like to snorkel Scott & Turtle beaches this year but understand land access is limited to Caneel guests. So.....We're thinking of renting a Zodiac to spend time on the water and wonder if you can beach a Zodiac on Caneel property. Does anyone know??? If we have to, we will rent a larger boat and buoy up and swim in - but I may be getting too old for that! :(

They won't let you beach a dinghy. We once saw people getting dropped off by dinghy, but the person kept the motor running and the people being dropped off had to swim in part of the way.

There are mooring balls off of Scott that you can tie up to. It's not too far to swim in. Bring a noodle if you are nervous. No mooring balls off of Turtle.
It's like looking in your soup and finding a whole different alphabet.

I would think the issue is that there is no dinghy channel in the swim area, not that you can't put a dinghy on the beach. The NPS regulations prohibit entering the buoyed swim area except between red and green channel markers.
