Delta baggage loophole found

Post by rpplano »

Oh Happy Day! I found a slight detail in Delta's baggage policy that will save me a little $$. I purchased our tickets in August 2008, so according to Delta's website...

Customers who purchased Delta tickets on or before Nov. 5, 2008 will be charged $50 for a second bag, but will be permitted to check their first bag without charge pursuant to Delta’s previous policy.

Now the question is, do I tell the missus? Or keep her thinking carry-on only.....

I would not tell her. My wife brings way too much stuff on our trips. Also don't tell her that I said not to tell her since I live close to you. I don't want her comming after me.

To Rob7, I usually plan our annual STJ trip in August for May travel. Historically, it has produced the cheapest fares. However, things are really different. Two weeks ago my daughter purchased cheaper tickets with better times on AA. So my practice of booking as early as possible, backfired this time. Nowadays, whatever was the rule last week will change again next week. But the tickets are paid, the villa is paid, the Jeep is booked so I will not worry and Be Happy! May 6th soon come.

It's vacation, let her bring a bag to check if that's what her little heart desires :)

If your wife is stressing over carry on only - you should definitely tell her.

I recently flew Northwest, for a ski trip, with no baggage issues. I heard Delta (was Northwest) in Minneapolis was not good to my friends. One was a long time elite NWA member. They said tough, we are now Delta, our baggage rules apply. He put up a fuss, and they told him OK, his two friends had to pay the fee.

My plan was to have the baggage policy in force when I booked the flights in hand and if they gave me a hard time I was going to charge the fee and contest it later.
