St. John Villa Bedroom/Bathroom North

Post by Nancy_B »

We just finished construction on our bedroom at the Jersey Shore. It's modeled after our favorite villa in St. John. Our contracter is a guy who used to live on St. John for 9 years. St. John obsessed - yes, sign us up :)

Bathroom is small but it's all tiled and is a 'wet' room. We have a glass door to keep the water in:

Our dog, Lager...don't think he's too happy that the shag rug from the 70's is gone...

Love it! You even have the tiles correct.

What shade of paint is that on the wall? I want to repaint my kitchen in a shade like that.
It's like looking in your soup and finding a whole different alphabet.

Thanks, Becky,

The tiles were a challenge to find. These are actually Spanish tiles (we couldn't get the mexican ones anywhere here in the Northeast). They were unsealed and quite a chore for our contractor.

The paint is Duron and it's called Afternoon Sun I believe. I'll double check this weekend when I'm back down.

It looks great!

I love the color, our mud/laundry room is painted a similar shade.

Also love the tile work. I would like to do those when we remodel the kitchen.

Do you have a Rumsfield in the kitchen?

I'd love to do the same with our upstairs bath but it is the only full bath in the house and I don't think that would fly on resale. looks great though!

LysaC, The villa that inspired us is Casa Del Sol. The color of the walls is definitely more Bongo Bongo and we've stayed there and loved it to.

Jimmy, we all definitely have to get together. Connie is at the shore already so if you and Amy come down, you can check it out in person.

Augie, no Rumsfeld but we do have plenty of rum :)

I love it. It looks great.

I can't wait to finally own a place where I can really put some color. Renting = boring.

Very nice. My hubby's office is about that same color, actually even a little brighter. I love the sailboat model and have been looking for one. Can you share where you purchased it? We have nearly that same photo hanging above our mantel on the chimney. We also have STJ sconces inside and out. If all your lighting's not finished, it's a really nice touch to add. Anyway, it looks beautiful!!!! Ali~

Hi, Ali,

We purchased the sailboat model about 10 years ago and I'm sorry but I don't remember where it is from.

We have Donald Schnell fixtures on the outside of this house but choose the monkey lamps because the bedroom that it's modeled after had very similar ones.
