Most of you I don't know. But you amaze me with your kindness. I want you to know that i really appreciate your thoughts and prayers for my brother --I am sure he will get out before things get to hairy (or at least that is what i am telling myself).
and to Gromit, especially, goes a huge debt of thanks--she has gone way beyond and contacted a friend of hers in Africa who actually has close contacts at the madagascar embassy- This has been an enormous comfort to me and my family, especially to my 80 yr old father.
Words cannot express how amazed i am by this online community. you all have my most heartfelt thanks.
I hope that if the time comes, that i can pay it forward.
as soon as i hear from Matt, I will post on the original thread
I feel blessed to have 'v-friends' like all of you.

loria,
I really hope everything works out safely for your brother! I agree, this is a great group of people. It's no wonder that many become for real, not just forum friends.

Loria-- It was my pleasure to assist you in any way that I could.

I'm glad things are working themselves out for the best, but it never hurts to have a little extra help.

In some ways it's just a small world.

God knows I've turned to this forum many times for support for various things going on in my life.

This place and the people on it are essentially extended family to me. Like all familiess there are ups and downs, but for the most part it makes my life and world a better place.

The beauty of a forum like this is to be able to help one another out, give each other a heads up and share experiences when appropriate.

As a result we ALL benefit. We are a virtual community here that extends the spirit of STJ into the virtual world.

Any time I can help a fellow forumite I will gladly do so, especially when it comes to something as serious as the situation your brother is/was facing.

It is incumbent upon all of us to look out for each other whenever we can. That's what makes us a community and an excellent one at that-- warts and all.

"Never doubt that a small group of committed citizens can change the world. Indeed it is the only thing that ever has." -- Margaret Meade

I'm glad to hear things are still going well and will be looking for that update that he's out of there!

This forum does continue to amaze me with the emotional support and friendship it offers. Sometimes I think St. John has been the common thread among a group of people that could do anything they set their minds too!

Gromit:I first used the quote at the end of your post when applying for grad school and love it! It's so true!!

Continued Prayers Loria!
