Great Band in St. John---March 4-15

Last March we followed around a great band when we were in St. John---Spiritual Rez. Listened to them four nights I think. They describe themselves as a "reggae horn funk dance party."

Anyway---they had a great time in St. John and are going back for a return tour, starting March 4---mostly playing at Larry's Landing, The Beach Bar and Island Blues. I thought maybe my obsession with this band was caused by too much rum, but amazingly, they came to Iowa City a few months ago, and they sounded ALMOST as good in the cornfields of Iowa. We talked to the band members quite a bit and they were really nice guys too. If you're on island during that time, give them a listen. Here's a picture of Spiritual Rez at Larry's Landing:

Actually, later this week they'll be opening for George Clinton and P/Funk at Boston's brand new House of Blues.

Yes---they're Boston guys. They met at the Berklee of Music in Boston.

Hey Steve S--Thanks for thinking of me. Unfortunately, while my STJ trip still appears on the board, its been postponed (sounds better than cancelled). I had a somewhat aggressive Caribbean travel schedule for this down economy, having just returned from Turks and Caicos, and then I got asked to speak at a conference in California in mid-March and---bummer---reluctantly decided to cancel our March STJ trip.

It looks like Spiritual Rez has extended their VI tour. They'll be back at the Beach Bar Thursday and at Larry's on Friday and Island Blues on Sunday. Inner Visions at Sputnick.

We saw them on Thursday night at the Beach Bar. They were great! The crowd really enjoyed them.
