Hey, ya'll.
I just gotta' put this out there-
I hoping to marry my Sweet Amy this year...
I know, just do it...
I'm in my late 30's, she's in her early 30's...
but there are so many things involved...
Here I thought eloping would be easy!!!
Personally, I hope to have an extended vacation this fall, and enjoy the nuptials ( 3rd coolest word ever) on Maho( 2nd coolest word ever) with My Sweet Amy (1st coolest word ever!!!).
I'm thinking about Capt. Dan bringing her onto the beach from his Motoryacht Cinnamon Bay, dingying her to shore with her brother, who should be "giving her away..."( her Pop passed away coming up on 10 years ago,sadly.)
So, what do you think? Any ideas?

Thats awesome...no better place to get married either...My husband and I tied the knot June 12, 2003 on Trunk Bay...our first trip...NO regrets...I had been married before and didn't want a fluffy wedding...we had Anne Marie marry us...very earthy lady...LOVED her. Afterwards we went to Chateau Bordeaux for the BEST dinner/evening ever...I wouldn't change any of it...

Jim-- You are hopeless romantic and I LOVE it.
Gotta say though that I think you need to think the whole dinghy thing through. I have never been able to get out of one of those things without getting wet.
It sounds great in principle but in practicality I'd stick to doing it on a boat OR on the beach but not the combo... unless she really doesn't care.
I am SO happy for you two. STJ is the best place in the world to start your journey through life together!
Mr. Gromit and I got married at home here in VA but spent our Honeymoon on STJ and we're going on 11 years together.
Funny story though about how we met: A friend of mine (and his co-worker) introduced us. We met playing paintball. I was wearing jungle boots, camouflage pants and a Duffy's Love Shack t-shirt. When we were introduced he said" "Nice boots. What's Duffy's?"
I then proceeded to tell him all about Duffy's Love Shack on STT and how I fell in love with STJ. Of course this was while hunkered down and trying not to get shot. Love is a battlefield!
He said that was the moment he fell in love with me. He knew that if I could carry on a conversation about vacationing in the caribbean, look that good in camouflage, cover his ass with return fire that I was the girl for him.
Four months later we were engaged and a year later we were married and having drinks at Duffy's Love Shack on STT where he got his very own Duffy's Love Shack T-Shirt.
The rest is history

I have never done the dinghy thing but I have seen people do it at Maho where they drove the dinghy right up on the beach and got out from the front of the boat and didn't get wet.
I think it's a romantic idea that's for sure. If she knows about your plans, just ask her what she would want to do.

Jim, I love your idea of a beach wedding - very romantic and obviously a personally special place for the two of you.
I'm curious though how much of this is meant to be a surprise for her? She will probably (if she's like most women) want to have a hand in the planning and can tell you how she feels about using a dinghy etc. I'd let her handle or be part of the major decisions; then if you want something to be a surprise for her, you could fly one of her best friends down there or something like that.
I'd take Bug up on her offer to give you some tips on the paperwork. My cousin was married overseas and it took some time to get the paperwork in order; having the details right before the trip made it easier after the trip when his wife changed her last name to his.

A beach theme wedding sounds wonderful. I like your idea of including Capt. Dan and his yacht, the Cinnamon Bay, in some part of the ceremony, as I know that's where you proposed to Amy. Maybe a sunset and champagne cruise on his boat after a ceremony on the beach...don't know about the dinghy idea, though, unless she can stay dry...otherwise, great! BTY, wasn't the M/Y Cinnamon first owned by Rockefeller himself? (just an aside)
Does Chef Seamus Mulcare still make wedding cakes on STJ? He made/makes beautiful "beach" wedding cakes, decorated with white chocolate sea shells and sculpted coral designs. They are so lovely.
Is this a surprise for Amy? Remember, part of the fun for a bride-to-be is in the planning, also.
