Santa Barbara recommendations
We will be taking a trip to Santa Barbara, CA this spring.
Any recommendations on places to stay, sites to see, etc would be greatly appreciated.

Santa Barbara is a great place to visit and in fact the surrounding area is great too. So here goes. Great place to stay Fess Parkers Doubletree Resort. Beautiful property. As to other places I really don't know since it's only a 90 minute drive for us.
Lots of nice restaurants on State St and the streets around it, so you won't have any problem finding all types of food. One of my favorites is Dargan's Irish Pub. Good stuff on a late Sunday with some traditional Irish music. And they have Murphy's ale.
There's a great restored Santa Barbara Mission.
Do you like wine? If you travel about 90 minutes north of SB, you'll hit the Santa Ynez Valley with so many good vineyards that make it less necessary for us SoCal folks to travel to Napa.
There is lots of beach area also. One of our favorites is an offleash dog beach, called Arroyo-Burro. It is a very nice person beach also with cliffs to your back and water to your front. By the way, it will still be too cold, for my taste anyway to go into the water.
In the Santa Ynez Valley there is also a kitshy Danish Village might be a nice walk through if you're up there anyway. But I'd rather be tasting wine.

Thanks for the tips. Fess Parkers was a great suggestion, but since we will only be in the room for sleeping and spend the majority of the 2.5 days sight seeing, we settled for a less expensive property and I'll let you know how the accommodations were after we return.
What about whale watching? We've had good success that time of year off Dana Pt. with many sightings. I have heard that Blue Whales are seen off Santa Barbara, but not sure what time of year. Nothing like spotting a good "fluke" now and then!
