Martini Girl--The air and water temps were both a little cooler in Provo than they would have been in St. John. Highs were maybe 78 to 81 or so. Needed a sweater sometimes at dinner. The water was brisk---but I got used to it---not sure of the actual water temp. Probably a better destination in April--June if you're looking for warm, flat water.

JMQ---Thanks for the nice compliment on the photos as you are an excellent photographer. Honestly, I just used an inexpensive point and shoot Canon Elph. I did use some of the enhancement/auto color features in Picasa, but thats it. I have stolen some ideas for tropical photos, though, from the many good photographers on this Board.

Thank you for a wonderful trip report and the gorgeous pictures. I had never considered T&C before, but it sure looks beautiful. Was it difficult to get there - plenty of flights? Were flights more expensive? Did you rent vehicles?

I think a rental car is a must on Provo. Provo lacks a town like Cruz Bay so you need to drive to each desitination, unlike Cruz Bay where you can spend an entire evening strolling about.

Jim- Thanks for posting the TR. T&CI has caught my interest and I expect I will land there one day.

I'm glad you enjoyed it and thanks for sharing your report.

Thanks Sherban. T&C is pretty easy to get to from Atlanta.

St. John Deb---We had two rental cars-older SUVs from "Scooter Bob's" that had seen better days. Scooter Bob was a very laid-back island character---nice guy. He left the rental cars for us at the airport with the keys in them. Unfortunately, one of the cars wouldn't start for us on the day before we left. We abandoned the car at the beach, got a ride from a kind-hearted local, and left a message with Scooter Bob telling him where we left his rental car.

Iowaguy - OMG, that is very funny. Was there any backlash from Scooter Bob, or is that just the right way to roll?

Hi Maryanne---Hope you're out enjoying some Provo sun, but when you get back, would be interested to hear how you like it. I looked up Aquamarine Beach House and that is a great section of Grace Bay---much quieter on that end of the beach. As you get toward Beaches resort, though, it looks more like the Jersey Shore! In case you're interested, the music at Da Conch Shack is on Thursday nights. The same duo plays at the bar at O' Soleil on Friday nights (they also have a good Tapas menu at the O Soleil bar if you want a lighter meal)---they were really good musicians.

StJohn Deb---Scooter Bob was fine with us just letting him know where he could find his car. He even gave us one free day's rental for the inconvenience. As I say, Scooter Bob was REALLY laid back---a world of difference from some of the car rental places in St. John.

Iowaguy your pics of the water on Provo does do it justice that last one really does it. Great job :D
We stayed at Royal Palm somthing can't remember the whole name but it was the bomb as far as being nice.
That said Provo is a little too fancy for my taste but we liked it. I just prefer the island feel of St John better it's rougher on the edges and I like that. Also the snorkeling is so easy on St John not so easy on Provo. If ya like a nice long beach for walking Grace Bay fits the bill for sure.

Pagirl what was the name of the place ya stayed at was it coral something or other? Would ride a bike down there every day to snorkel it was pretty good. Saw a nurse shark, octupus and sea turtle all in one day. Normally no current but remember one day had to hold on to the rope to get around the reef.

We rented a house at Aquamarine Beach Houses and snorkelled right off the beach.

It wasn't too far from Coral Gardens, which is what you (CptK) might be thinking of.

Iowaguy, thanks for the report and the terrific photos. I spent 15 minutes scraping ice off my car this morning--those beach photos warmed me up!

I've always been curious about T&C. Those beach shots are really gorgeous. The house looks beautiful, too. Any interior shots of the house?
But through the "villa math" of splitting it 5 ways, it was less expensive than, say, a harbor view unit at Gallows Point.
I think about that alot and start dreaming of Peter Bay. I sometimes wish that I liked people more than I do. If that ever happens I'm all over Mermaid Falls.
